A new experiment I made for the Artificiality Summit this year.
I wanted to explore different metaphors and analogies for controlling, steering, etc. models and how those might affect our mental models of AI. At first I wanted to treat it as a wide open blue sky brainstorming. But then I realized, there are already plenty of ideas in this space. Many going back to Cybernetics.
I had recently found the Cybernetics Image Library created and maintained by Chaski. Using the Library as the foundation, I made Control & Communication.
Control & Communication explores how images from Chaski’s Cybernetics Image Library might inspire new ways for people to steer AI models.
For each image, an AI model describes what it sees, proposes a steering idea, and sketches an interaction. These are speculative interpretations, not claims about the original authors’ intentions or working model features.
Take a look around and think a bit differently on how we might relate to AI systems.
